Don't Just Compare the Price. Compare What It Costs to Own.

The price on the windscreen only tells you how much a car costs to buy. It doesn't tell you how much it costs to own. Fuel or electricity, servicing, maintenance, finance, road tax, insurance and depreciation all contribute to the real cost of running a car.

If you can charge cheaply at home and most of your journeys are relatively short, the overall figures can look very different from running a petrol or diesel car. If you rely heavily on expensive public rapid charging, the calculation may be different. We think you should know that before you buy the car.

Why EV Sussex?

52 Years in the Motor Trade. And Still Learning.

EV Sussex is the next stage in the development of Andrew Shipp Autos. Andrew's motor trade career began 52 years ago with Nissan, followed by many years with BMW and experience with Porsche in main dealerships. Around 35 years ago he moved into running his own motor businesses.

For 24 years a major focus was the sale and maintenance of Smart Cars, valued for their economy, practicality and reliability. Smart's move to an all-electric range from 2019 was an interesting idea but the limited range of those cars made them unsuitable for many customers. It did, however, start a much deeper interest in electric cars.

The BMW i3 followed, then Tesla, Jaguar, Volkswagen, Polestar and others. As the cars have improved, used prices have developed and knowledge of batteries and EV repair has grown, the case for the right used EV has become much stronger.
